Dr Sheeba Irshad is a distinguished Breast Cancer Medical Oncologist at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Trust and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at King's College London. She has been serving as a Cancer Research UK Clinician Scientist, contributing significantly to the field of oncology. Dr Irshad's expertise lies in researching hard-to-treat breast cancers, particularly those resistant to chemotherapy. Her work focuses on understanding the tumour-immune cell cross talk in chemotherapy-resistant cancers, aiming to develop effective immunotherapy treatments.
In 2018, Dr Irshad was appointed as the Clinical Deputy Head of King's College London Breast Cancer Now Research Unit Programme. She also serves as the translational lead and coordinating investigator for a clinical trial platform exploring the interactions between DNA damage response inhibitors and immunotherapy in high-risk Triple Negative Breast Cancers. Her research is pivotal in understanding the mechanisms that allow immune cells to move within tumours, which is crucial for advancing cancer treatment.
Dr Irshad's academic journey includes a PhD in Oncology and Cancer Biology from King's College London, an MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians, and an MBBS and BSc in Immunology from King's College London. Her clinical interests encompass oncology, cancer research, breast cancer, and immunotherapies.
