Dr Sherine Mikhail is a Consultant Psychiatrist with a private practice at Nightingale Hospital, Priory Hospital Roehampton, The Harley Street Clinic, Leaders in Oncology Care, HCA at UCH, and The Blackheath Hospital. She also holds an NHS practice at Barnet, Enfield & Haringey NHS Trust, Chase Farm Hospital, where she has been awarded seven NHS Clinical Excellence Awards. Dr Mikhail has extensive experience in all areas of adult psychiatry, offering in-depth consultations and tailored approaches to wellbeing, including medication and psychological therapies.
Dr Mikhail graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London, with a Bachelor of Science in 1991 and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1994. She became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1999 and a fellow in 2011. She also holds a Diploma in Criminology from the University of London, obtained in 2005. Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, stress-related disorders, personality disorders, and psychotic illnesses such as schizophrenia and delusional disorder.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Mikhail is heavily involved in medical education and serves as a Consultant Appraiser. She is a panel member of medical students' Fitness to Practise hearings at University College London and has chaired the NHS Hospital Trust Drugs and Therapeutics Group since 2012. Dr Mikhail has published in peer-reviewed journals and serves as an Expert Witness in court and in medico-legal writing.
Dr Mikhail treats a range of conditions, including mood disorders like anxiety, depression, and bipolar affective disorder, as well as psychotic illnesses such as schizophrenia and delusional disorder. She also addresses personality disorders and benzodiazepine dependence. She arranges necessary physical investigations and psychological tests and provides referrals to a wide network of psychologists for therapies such as CBT, ACT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
