Mr Simon Gane is a Consultant Rhinologist and ENT Surgeon with over ten years of extensive training and qualifications. He specialises in rhinology, nasal inflammatory disease, smell disorders, benign nasal tumours, and surgery of the sinuses, nose, and anterior skull base. Additionally, he has a keen interest in Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). Mr Gane serves as the ENT surgeon for Moorfields Eye Hospital and practices at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London, UK.
Mr Gane qualified in medicine in 1996 at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He pursued postgraduate qualifications, including specialist surgical training in the North Thames Deanery under Professor Valerie Lund. During this period, he gained fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons, England, and membership with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Mr Gane is also highly respected in the scientific research community, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on rhinology and smell. In 2019, he was awarded an MPhil in the physics of human olfaction and the olfactory receptor, demonstrating his commitment to advancing knowledge in his field.
Mr Gane is proficient in a range of medical tests and treatments, including functional nasal surgery, endoscopic anterior skull base surgery, benign tumour surgery, and endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR). He is skilled in KTP laser surgery for nosebleeds, septodermoplasty, nasal closure, and biologic therapy (monoclonal antibodies). His expertise extends to treating conditions such as smell disorders, nasal polyps, sinusitis, epiphora (excess tearing), hay fever and allergy, heavy nosebleeds, nasal blockage, vasculitis, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis, Churg-Strauss syndrome (EGPA), Wegener’s granulomatosis (GPA), nasal and sinus disease, and Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT).
