Professor Simon Lloyd is a consultant ENT surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and Salford Royal Hospital, specialising in neuro-otology and skull base surgery. He is also a Professor of ENT Surgery at Manchester University. Prof Lloyd qualified in 1996 and trained at prestigious institutions including the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Charing Cross Hospital in London. He further honed his skills in skull base surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and completed several overseas fellowships.

Prof Lloyd is an integral part of the Manchester Skull Base team, the Manchester Auditory Implant team, and the Manchester Neurofibromatosis type 2 and Paraganglioma (glomus) teams, which are among the busiest in the UK. His practice focuses on chronic middle ear disease, auditory implantation, and diseases of the skull base, including acoustic neuromas/vestibular schwannomas. He is recognised internationally for his expertise. Prof Lloyd treats a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions in both adults and children, employing the latest medical and surgical techniques, such as innovative middle ear injection therapy for sudden hearing loss and dizziness, and advanced surgical methods using endoscopes and lasers.

Prof Lloyd holds several prestigious roles, including council member of the Royal Society of Medicine, Secretary to the British Society of Otology, and Secretary to the British Skull Base Society. He is also a fellow of the European Academy of Otology and Neurotology. An accomplished author, he has numerous scientific publications to his name and has been awarded a prize by the Royal Society of Medicine for the best researcher in ear surgery over the past five years.
