Dr Smruta Shanbhag is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon, currently practising at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and HCA Harborne in Birmingham. She is the sole consultant providing gynaecological oncology services in the private sector in Coventry and Warwickshire. Dr Shanbhag has a keen interest in keyhole surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques.

Dr Shanbhag qualified from Goa University in 1995 and completed her post-graduation in Gynaecology in 1998. She trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Aberdeen, Scotland, and completed her specialist training at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. She has been a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist in Glasgow for nine years before moving to the West Midlands.

Dr Shanbhag is actively involved in GMC exams, Royal College exams, and teaching at Warwick Medical School. She has several publications in gynaecological oncology. Her clinical interests include laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant gynaecological disorders, and she offers a comprehensive, evidence-based, and holistic service from diagnosis to treatment.

Dr Shanbhag provides individualised one-stop services for conditions such as menstrual abnormalities, postmenopausal bleeding, elevated CA125, menopause, HRT, abnormal smears, colposcopy, vulval abnormalities, pelvic masses, and gynaecological cancers. She is proficient in British Sign Language, enhancing her ability to communicate with deaf patients and their families.

Dr Shanbhag consults at HCA Harborne on Mondays and other days by arrangement, aiming to provide a consultation, investigations, and a management plan in a single appointment. Her patients describe her as kind, compassionate, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.
