Mr Spyros Panagiotopoulos is a Consultant General and Bariatric/Metabolic Surgeon, based at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He also consults privately at the Metabolic & Bariatric Centre, part of London Bridge Hospital. Mr Panagiotopoulos graduated from the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1998.

He completed a six-year residency in General Surgery with specialist training in laparoscopic and upper gastrointestinal surgery at University Hospital of Patras, Greece, and IRCAD in Strasbourg, France. In 2008, he received his Certificate of Completion of Training and continued his higher specialist training in metabolic and bariatric surgery at the Bariatric & Metabolic Unit at UHP.

In 2012, Mr Panagiotopoulos undertook a Fellowship in Acute Surgery at King's College Hospital, where he was later appointed as a Consultant Surgeon. He earned his PhD in metabolic and bariatric surgery in 2013 and was accredited as a metabolic/bariatric surgeon in 2018. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 2016.

Mr Panagiotopoulos is a member of several professional bodies, including AUGIS/BOMSS, IFSO, and EAES. He specialises in advanced laparoscopic surgery, with a focus on Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, Benign Biliary Disease Surgery, Hernia Surgery, and Acute Surgical Conditions. He is also a clinical supervisor in Acute Surgery Training at King's College Hospital.

His personal interests include swimming, tennis, diving, hiking, and travelling.
