Dr Sreekumar Sundara Rajan is a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon specialising in oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery. he works within University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and holds private practice sessions at The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham.

He treats both benign and malignant breast conditions in men and women, including breast pain, nipple discharge, benign lumps, fibroadenomas, cysts, gynaecomastia and breast cancer

He performs include diagnostic excision, lumpectomy, wide local excision, mastectomy (including skin and nipple sparing), sentinel lymph node biopsy, axillary node clearance, risk reducing mastectomy, breast reduction, mastopexy, capsulectomy with implant exchange, breast reconstruction using implants or perforator flap techniques (LICAP/AICAP/MICAP/LTAP), and liposuction with fat transfer.

Appointed to the specialist register with the General Medical Council in 2020, he was selected for the National TIG Oncoplastic Fellowship at Nottingham University Hospital before serving as a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon in the North West of England from 2020 until relocating to Birmingham in early 2022.

He was awarded an MD in 2016 by the University of Leeds for research into male breast cancer after completing his MBBS (2004), MSc in Advanced Surgical Practice (2012), postgraduate medical education certificate (2015), FRCS (Edinburgh) in 2019, and FRCS specialist listing in 2020.

He leads the breast cancer and multidisciplinary team services at University Hospital Birmingham, mentoring national and international surgical fellows and trainees.

He has published over 20 peer reviewed articles focusing on male breast cancer and reconstructive techniques, and is a member of Cochrane and the Association of Breast Surgeons


He has a keen interest in evidence based practice, surgical innovation and medical education. outside of work, he enjoys cooking international cuisine, nature photography, badminton and cricket.
