Mr Mitra joined the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust as a locum Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in February 2011.He completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at hospitals including King’s College Hospital in London and Addenbrookes in Cambridge.

He is accredited with the BSCCP both as a colposcopist and as a trainer. He was research fellow for the Indian Council of Medical Research for two years.

Mr Mitra offers surgical and non-surgical treatments for women with prolapse and incontinence and performs more complex operations for recurrent prolapse. He offers minimal access surgery (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic) including hysterectomy, removal of ovarian cysts or ovaries or fibroids, treatment of heavy periods and endometriosis. He also holds several colposcopy clinics each week.
