Mr Syed Ali Shahzad is a Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon at the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust. He specialises in minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, for the treatment of urological conditions. His expertise encompasses the management of kidney, prostate, and bladder diseases, with a focus on preserving patient quality of life.

He holds fellowships from both the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Urol) and the European Board of Urology (FEBU). Mr Shahzad completed his basic surgical training in the Oxford Deanery, followed by higher specialty training in the West Midlands. He has further enhanced his skills through advanced courses in Europe, the USA, and South Africa.

In his role as Renal Service Lead, Mr Shahzad chairs the weekly Uro-oncology Multidisciplinary Team meetings. He has been instrumental in implementing remote proctoring for Da Vinci robotic surgery, facilitating the training of future robotic surgeons. Additionally, he serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham and contributes to clinical research as a Principal Investigator in national trials.

Mr Shahzad's clinical interests include the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia using techniques such as laser prostatectomy, and UroLift. He also manages conditions like kidney and bladder stones, urinary tract infections, erectile dysfunction, and male infertility. His procedural repertoire includes nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, varicocele ligation, hydrocele repair, circumcision, and vasectomy.

He is affiliated with several professional organisations, including the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the European Association of Urology, the American Urological Association, and the Royal Society of Medicine.
