Mr Syed Soulat Raza is a Consultant Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and surgical management of conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts. He practises privately at The Harborne Hospital and is part of the Liver Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he manages both benign and cancerous hepatobiliary conditions.

Mr Raza graduated from Baqai Medical University in 2004 and completed his early surgical training in West Yorkshire and Leeds. He subsequently undertook advanced training in a specialist liver, pancreas and transplant unit at St James’s University Hospital, followed by higher surgical training in the West Midlands with a focus on liver, pancreas and transplant surgery, before being appointed as a consultant.

His clinical expertise includes hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and complex gallbladder and bile duct procedures. He is highly experienced in performing laparoscopic cholecystectomy and managing bile duct stones, often completing treatment in a single procedure.

Mr Raza treats a wide range of conditions including liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, gallbladder cancer and bile duct cancer, providing comprehensive and patient-centred care. He also leads the Birmingham programme for normothermic regional perfusion, an advanced technique used in liver transplantation.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Raza is actively involved in research and surgical education. He contributes to peer-reviewed publications and serves as Programme Director for the Midlands FRCS course, supporting the training of future surgeons.
