Mr Tahir Mahmud is a highly qualified Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Manchester and Cheshire, UK, who specialises in knee and hip surgery, arthritis, and sports injuries. Mr Mahmud strives to consistently deliver exceptional outcomes for his patients.

Mr Mahmud obtained his medical degree in 2000 at University College London Medical School. He then undertook specialist training in Orthopaedics at several leading centres in London, including Charing Cross Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and St Mary’s Hospital. At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Mr Mahmud completed specialist fellowship training in sports knee injury, after which he was selected to undertake a year-long fellowship in complex knee and hip joint replacement surgery at the distinguished University of Western Ontario in Canada.

Mr Mahmud is widely renowned in the North West of England as one of the first surgeons to perform robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery in this region. His other specialist areas include knee ligament surgery, managing sports knee injuries, meniscal repair, minimally invasive total hip replacement surgery, and treating both amateur and professional athletes. In addition, he is proficient in the management of younger patients with arthritis and often performs high tibial osteotomy, cartilage regeneration operations, and partial knee replacement surgery. Before considering complete knee joint replacement, Mr Mahmud firmly believes in utilising knee preservation techniques.

Outside of work, Mr Mahmud shares a passion for cycling and ventures on various cycling expeditions, raising thousands of pounds each year for charity.
