Miss Tena Walters is a highly qualified and accomplished consultant breast surgeon with extensive experience in the field. She received her medical training at the Medical College of St Bartholomew's Hospital, where she qualified in 1983. Following this, she completed an MS thesis studying smooth muscle cell proliferation while serving as a lecturer in anatomy and subsequently as a lecturer in surgery on the professorial surgical unit at Barts.
Miss Walters has worked in a number of prestigious medical institutions throughout her career, including Breast Test Wales and the Royal National Hospital of Wales, the Heath Cardiff. In 1996, she was appointed as a consultant breast surgeon at Queen Mary's Hospital, where she also became lead clinician of the Breast Unit in 1998 and lead clinician in oncology in 2002.
In addition to her role at Queen Mary's Hospital, Miss Walters has been a member of the London Breast Clinic team as a consultant since 1996 and has been a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for 20 years. She currently serves as the chair of the Theatre Users Group at the Harley St Clinic and as a member of the QAPI committee of OneWelbeck Women's Health. She has also been a member of the 'Women of Influence' board of CRUK.
Miss Walters has published articles in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals and has been invited to contribute to magazine articles on breast cancer. Recently, she filmed for a BBC documentary on breast cancer genetics.
Miss Walters has a range of special interests, including family history of breast disease, the effects of HRT on breast tissue, and the management of breast pain. She is also highly skilled in the early diagnosis and management of breast cancer, providing her patients with only the highest standards of treatment and care.
