Dr Usman Ameer Khan is a consultant general, colorectal, and laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgeon, and an accredited endoscopist based in Manchester. With over 37 years of medical experience and more than 30 years of specialist experience in general surgery, Dr Khan is a highly respected figure in his field.

Dr Khan is one of the most experienced laparoscopic surgeons in the United Kingdom. He began performing keyhole gall bladder surgery in 1993 and keyhole hernia surgery in April 1995. Over the years, he has successfully performed thousands of hernia and gallbladder surgeries, earning the trust of patients and medical professionals alike. His specialist interests include gastrointestinal oncology, colorectal surgery, endoscopic procedures, and laparoscopic procedures.

Dr Khan received his MBBS from the University of Punjab in 1984. He trained in the Northwest Thames rotation and gained valuable experience at the world-renowned St Mark's Hospital for Colorectal Disorders. In 1999, he obtained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) and was included in the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in both England and the Republic of Ireland.

Following his specialist training, Dr Khan became the Clinical Lead for General Surgery and Colorectal Cancer at East Cheshire NHS Trust. During his tenure, he founded the Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery programmes. Currently, he serves as the Clinical Director for Planned Care Surgery and the Clinical Director for Diagnostic Services at East Cheshire NHS Trust.

In addition to his clinical roles, Dr Khan is actively involved in research, particularly in the areas of keyhole surgery and colorectal cancer. He has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences and regularly publishes in various scientific journals.
