Frequently asked questions

  • Why did you decide to become a Consultant Gynaecologist | Advanced Laparoscopic & Robotic Endometriosis Surgeon ?

I decided very early in my medical studies that I wanted to become a gynaecologist, as I was fascinated by the physiological changes of pregnancy. During my specialist training, I saw the significant impact endometriosis can have on a woman’s life -causing pain, organ damage and fertility challenges. I chose to sub-specialise in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery so that I could treat complex disease effectively, restore pelvic health and improve quality of life.

  • What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?

Most women I see present with significant pelvic pain that has often lasted several years. Many have experienced painful periods since adolescence. Some have not received a clear diagnosis despite ongoing symptoms. A number also present with difficulty conceiving.

  • What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?

The diagnostic process includes a detailed consultation and examination, followed by imaging such as ultrasound and MRI to assess the extent of disease. The gold standard for diagnosis is laparoscopy. I specialise in laparoscopic and robotic excision surgery, aiming to remove disease and restore normal pelvic anatomy. We also work in a multidisciplinary setting to address pain management and fertility considerations.

  • What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?

My sub-specialist interest is complex endometriosis and minimally invasive surgery. I treat mild through to very severe disease, including cases with adenomyosis, and focus on excision surgery to restore pelvic function and relieve pain.
