Dr Vasileios Panoulas is a consultant interventional cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, where he treats both private and NHS patients. He graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Ioannina, Greece, and completed his PhD in genetic regulation of hypertension in patients with rheumatoid arthritis at Russells Hall Hospital in Birmingham and the University of Ioannina.

From 2008 to 2010, Dr Panoulas underwent core medical training at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital, followed by cardiology core training at Hammersmith Hospital. He was appointed as a National Heart and Lung Institute academic clinical fellow from 2010 to 2013. He then undertook an interventional cardiology fellowship at San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, and completed his MSc in interventional cardiology from Universita Vita-Salute San Raffaele.

Dr Panoulas returned to London as a North West London interventional fellow at Hammersmith Hospital from 2014 to 2016. During this time, he was also a NIHR clinical lecturer in cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, where he continues his academic work as an honorary senior clinical lecturer.

His areas of expertise include complex PCI, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), Impella implantation, and percutaneous mechanical assist devices for the treatment of acute cardiogenic shock. Dr Panoulas is highly skilled in complex coronary angioplasty and has a keen interest in advancing interventional cardiology techniques. He has been serving in his current role since 2016.
