Dr Vinit Sawhney is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. She completed her medical degree at the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, India, in 2004. Dr Sawhney moved to the UK to pursue specialist training in Cardiology at several of London's top teaching hospitals, including North Middlesex University Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital.

In 2013, Dr Sawhney was awarded an MD from Queen Mary University of London for her research on ventricular arrhythmias and telomere biology. She entered the specialist register as a Cardiologist in 2018. Following her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), she completed a post-CCT fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease at St Bartholomew's Hospital in 2019. In the same year, she was appointed as a Locum Consultant at the hospital.

Dr Sawhney specialises in Adult Congenital Disease and currently serves as the Electrophysiology Governance Lead at the Barts Heart Centre. Her areas of expertise include ablation strategies, mapping in adult congenital heart disease patients, and the use of telomere biology for risk stratification of arrhythmias.

Outside of her clinical duties, Dr Sawhney is an active researcher. Her current research interests focus on improving ablation techniques and mapping for adult congenital heart disease patients, as well as exploring the potential of telomere biology in predicting arrhythmia risks.

Dr Sawhney's dedication to both her clinical practice and research ensures she remains at the forefront of advancements in cardiology and electrophysiology.
