Dr Vivek Misra is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Christie NHS Trust, Manchester, specialising in breast cancer, rectal cancer, and spinal metastatic disease and cord compression. He has been a consultant at The Christie since 2005.

Dr Misra graduated from JIPMER, Pondicherry, India in 1995, where he was awarded the gold medal for being the top undergraduate in his course group. He completed his post-graduate medical and specialist Clinical Oncology training in the UK, gaining his MRCP (UK) in 1999 and his FRCR (Oncology) in 2003.

Dr Misra is a member of the Breast and Gastrointestinal disease groups and serves as a principal investigator for several national and international clinical trials. His research interests include the management of spinal cord compression and the late effects of pelvic radiotherapy. He is also actively involved in developing new radiotherapy techniques, including stereotactic body radiotherapy at The Christie.

As chair of the Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC) Group, Dr Misra leads the MSCC service in Manchester. He played a key role in developing an integrated coordination service in the area, bringing together a multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality care for a complex group of patients.

Dr Misra treats his patients using a variety of therapies, including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biological therapy, and radiotherapy. His areas of expertise encompass breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, rectal cancer, and spinal metastatic disease and cord compression.

In his role, Dr Misra is committed to delivering the best possible care to his patients and is actively involved in clinical guidance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of hospital services.
