    Mr Wael Awad is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, specialising in complex coronary artery bypass surgery, sutureless aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair, and surgery of the intrathoracic aorta. He serves as the Lead Surgeon for the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation and Mechanical Heart Support Programmes at Barts Health NHS Trust.

    Mr Awad graduated in Medicine from Imperial College, London in 1998. He trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery at several prestigious teaching hospitals in London, including the Royal Brompton, The London Chest, Guy's, St Bartholomew's, and St Thomas' Hospitals. During his training, he worked with some of the leading and pioneering surgeons in the field, such as Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, Professor Peter Goldstraw, and Mr John Wright. In 1999, he was awarded a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of London for his research on ischaemic preconditioning in the immature myocardium.

    In 2003, Mr Awad was appointed as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Barts & the Royal London NHS Trust. His clinical results have been outstanding, as confirmed by the UK Healthcare Commission. He receives numerous referrals from the Middle East and frequently travels nationally and internationally to train local surgeons.

    A prolific researcher, Mr Awad has published extensively in leading medical journals, including Circulation, JAMA, The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and the European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He regularly presents at national and international conferences and has been recognised by 'Marquis Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare' for his significant contributions to Cardiothoracic Surgery.
