Mr William Aston is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He has a special interest in the surgical treatment of arthritis, cartilage transplantation, arthroscopic knee surgery, and knee and hip replacement surgery. Mr Aston also specialises in complex hip and knee revision surgery, as well as the management of bone and soft tissue tumours.

Mr Aston received his medical degree from the Royal London Hospital Medical School in 1997. Following his basic surgical training at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, he secured a place on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital training rotation. He then underwent subspecialty training in complex primary and revision joint replacement surgery, as well as bone and soft tissue sarcoma surgery, at the RNOH. He completed his training with a one-year fellowship at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.

Mr Aston has published numerous papers and book chapters and has presented at international meetings on the design and fixation of massive prostheses in limb salvage surgery and the use of these techniques in revision joint replacement surgery. He aims to improve functional outcomes by using joint-sparing techniques coupled with biological reconstruction where possible.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Aston is a member of the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society and is actively involved in the teaching and training of future orthopaedic surgeons. His dedication to advancing orthopaedic surgery and improving patient outcomes makes him a highly respected figure in his field.
