Dr Pahuja is a Consultant Neonatologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, with a specialist interest in paediatric respiratory, nutrition, and infectious diseases. After completing his postgraduate training in paediatrics in India, he moved to the UK. Dr Pahuja has 20 years of experience and has trained at various university and teaching hospitals across the UK. He undertook his general paediatric training at West Middlesex Hospital and Watford Hospital, and higher specialist training in neonatal medicine at King's College Hospital, Luton and Dunstable Hospital, and Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge. He joined Chelsea and Westminster Hospital as a Neonatal Consultant in 2015.
Dr Pahuja is the lead for postnatal ward care of the newborn at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He has led various quality improvement projects to enhance the experience of families on the postnatal ward and has chaired national guidelines on the prevention and management of in-hospital newborn falls.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr Pahuja is an established instructor on Newborn Life Support Courses and simulation study days. He teaches multidisciplinary groups, including general practitioners, medical students, nurses, and midwives. He is also actively involved as a GMC associate in delivering PLAB 2 exams, which are crucial for progressing overseas doctors into the NHS workforce.
Dr Pahuja has organised various study days on neonatal ethics and the management of surgical neonates. He has been actively involved in research during his training and has written a range of educational materials and research projects that have been presented at national and international conferences.
Dr Pahuja's areas of expertise include immunisation, care of newborn infants, feeding problems in newborns and children, respiratory problems in newborns and children, gastrointestinal problems, and growth and development assessment. He is skilled in the care of sick newborns, including extreme preterm babies and those born with surgical problems. He also provides routine checks, feeding, growth, and development assessments for newborn infants up to six weeks old. Additionally, he is experienced in managing common skin problems, such as rashes and eczema, and paediatric infectious diseases, including fever, respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, urine infections, and viral illnesses.
