  • About Dr Atul Sachdeva

    GMC number: 6092670

    Year qualified: 2004

Place of primary qualification: University of Leicester

Atul was born in Preston in 1980. After completing his schooling from Lancaster Royal Grammar school in 1998, moved on to study medicine at the University of Leicester graduating in 2004. At this time Atul was pursuing a career in surgery and after his pre- registration house officer year worked as a clinical demonstrator teaching medical students at the University of Leicester for a year combined with working in A&E.

Entry into surgical training lead to a specialist training programme in Urology in 2007. This rotation was based in and around London for the next 3 years, during which time he also completed his MRCS (royal college of surgeons) exams. In 2010 Atul decided on a move from surgery into primary care, which lead to a move back to the northwest and commencing GP training in August 2011. He completed his GP training in 2014 becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practice, and initially worked as portfolio GP. Half his working time was in GP, the other half as a GP with specialist interest in Urology and also A&E. In 2015 he commenced a part time MSc in Sports & Exercise medicine, due to complete next year.

Atul became a GP partner in Blackpool in 2018, and is now focussed on GP and Sports Medicine, whilst maintaining his previous specialist interests within General Practice. Atul has always had a keen interest in sport and had a professional cricket contract with Leicestershire CCC whilst at university for 3 years. He is working with local professional football clubs and is hoping to expand his sports medicine work going forward.

In his spare time Atul likes playing golf, squash, snowboarding holidays and mountain biking.
