Mr Chelliah Selvasekar is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. He also sees patients privately, including at The Christie Private Care. Mr Selvasekar is a highly skilled general surgeon with a specialisation in minimally-invasive surgery. His sub-specialties include gastrointestinal cancers, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy.

Mr Selvasekar qualified in Madras, India, and subsequently completed his specialist registrar training in Manchester. He furthered his expertise by undertaking two years of full-time clinical research at University College London, focusing on minimally invasive treatments for dysplastic lesions, which earned him an MD.

Following this, Mr Selvasekar spent a year as an international clinical colorectal fellow at the Mayo Clinic in the United States. Here, he gained extensive experience in minimally invasive and complex colorectal surgery. He completed his surgical training at The Christie Hospital.

Mr Selvasekar is an accredited colonoscopist for the national bowel screening programme and offers both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies. He also holds an honorary lecturer position at the University of Liverpool and is a member of the Faculty of Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, where he contributes to surgical courses.
