    About Prof. Christopher Eden

    Professor Christopher Eden is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with specialist interests in urological and prostate cancers. He is currently a Professor of Urology at the University of Surrey and a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, UK. Additionally, he serves as Co-Director of Santis in London.

    Professor Eden attended Guy’s Hospital and King’s College Hospital Medical Schools, earning his MBBS in 1985 from the University of London, where he won Surgery and Paediatric Prizes. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995 and achieved a Master of Surgery degree from the University of London in 1997.

    As a surgical trainee, Professor Eden became a pioneer in laparoscopic urological surgery. He performed the UK’s first laparoscopic pyeloplasty in 1994, the first laparoscopic radical prostatectomy in 2000, the first laparoscopic radical cystectomy in 2001, the first robotic Retzius-sparing radical prostatectomy in 2016, and the first laparoscopic Retzius-sparing radical prostatectomy in 2016.

    With one of the world’s largest personal series of minimal access urological procedures, Professor Eden has performed over 5,000 cases. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers on laparoscopic urology, contributed to 9 book chapters, and authored a book.

    Professor Eden’s areas of expertise include laparoscopic and robotic surgery, urological oncology, and minimally invasive procedures. He is dedicated to advancing the field of urology through both his clinical practice and academic contributions.
