Dr Eugene Ong is a Consultant Dermatologist at 55 Harley Street (Skin55). He completed his medical degree at the University of Oxford in 2011 and an MA in Medical Sciences in 2008. He was awarded his Membership with the Royal College of Physicians. After qualifying, Dr Ong completed his core medical training in Oxford and conducted academic research on skin cancer and inflammatory skin conditions at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
He later undertook his specialist training in Dermatology at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and University College London Hospital, gaining experience in complex dermatology, skin surgery, and specialist regional male genital dermatology clinics. Following this, he completed a senior clinical fellowship in dermatopathology at the St John's Institute of Dermatology and was elected as British Society of Dermatopathology Trainee Representative. In 2019, Dr Ong became certified by the ICDP-UEMS in Dermatopathology and in 2022 completed his Diploma in Dermatopathology, recognised by the Royal College of Pathologists.
Dr Ong was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist in 2021 at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he also works as a Dermatopathologist, diagnosing skin conditions from biopsies under the microscope. He currently sees patients at 55 Harley Street (Skin 55) and HCA Harley Street.
Dr Ong has expertise in all areas of general dermatology and skin surgery. He has special interests in the treatment and management of psoriasis, moles, skin cancer, acne, eczema, and male genital skin.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr Ong is a member of the editorial advisory board for the Clinical and Experimental Dermatology (CED) Journal. He has published over 20 journal articles in high-impact journals, such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has won numerous awards for his work and has appeared in the media on BBC News and BBC Radio.
