    Dr Farrukh Shah is a Consultant Haematologist at the Whittington Hospital in London, where she undertakes clinical work. She also serves as the medical director for transfusion at NHS Blood and Transplant. Dr Shah's specialism is in general haematology, with a particular focus on thalassaemia major, thalassaemia intermedia, iron overload disorders, haemachromatosis, and iron deficiency. She leads one of the largest thalassaemia centres in the UK and is internationally recognised for her expertise in these conditions.

    Dr Shah graduated from the University of Punjab in 1994 with an MBBS degree. She became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997 and a Member of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2001. She completed her Doctorate of Medicine at University College London in 2008.

    In addition to her clinical roles, Dr Shah is actively involved in clinical trials for thalassaemia and sickle cell disease. She has served as both Chief Investigator and Primary Investigator for numerous clinical trials. Dr Shah has also contributed to medical literature, writing book chapters and publishing extensively in peer-reviewed journals. She is the Chair of the UK Forum on Haemoglobin Disorders and the National Haemoglobinopathy Registry.

    Dr Shah's clinical interests include video consultations, sickle cell anaemia, coagulation disorders, thalassaemia, and anaemia. She has been with the Whittington Hospital since her appointment in 2004.
