Dr Gauri Godbole is a Consultant Microbiologist and Parasitologist with over 30 years of experience in the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases. She practises at leading London institutions including The Wellington Hospital and is a Consultant at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She also holds senior roles within the UK Health Security Agency, where she contributes to national infection control and public health strategy.

Dr Godbole qualified in medicine in India and completed postgraduate training in internal medicine before continuing her specialist training in the UK. She undertook advanced training in medical microbiology and virology at University College London, achieving specialist accreditation and developing expertise in complex infections.

Her clinical expertise includes microbiology, parasitology and infectious diseases, with a particular focus on tropical infections, gastrointestinal infections and infections in returning travellers. She is highly experienced in managing complex infections and antibiotic stewardship, supporting both individual patient care and wider infection control practices.

Dr Godbole is a recognised national expert in gastrointestinal infections and serves as the clinical lead for specialist reference services in England, including Helicobacter and botulism. Her research focuses on emerging infections and antimicrobial resistance, including the use of genomic technologies to improve diagnosis and surveillance. She has contributed to national guidelines, advisory committees and has an extensive portfolio of peer-reviewed publications.
