Mr Hamish Clouston is a distinguished Colorectal and Peritoneal Surgeon based at The Christie. He specialises in the treatment of tumours within the colon, rectum, and appendix. With extensive experience in performing Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), Mr Clouston is adept at handling advanced colorectal malignancies, including multivisceral rectal and colonic resections.

Mr Clouston is a core member of several multidisciplinary teams at The Christie, including the Peritoneal, Advanced Pelvic Malignancy, Anal, and Neuroendocrine teams. He performs surgeries for early and recurrent anal cancers, as well as primary and metastatic neuroendocrine cancers.

After graduating from the University of Liverpool Medical School in 2006, Mr Clouston completed his postgraduate surgical training in Liverpool and the Northwest (Manchester) Deanery. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine (MD) in 2016 at the Paterson Institute at The Christie. In 2017, he attained his Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons and subsequently undertook an additional year of training in Peritoneal and Advanced Colorectal Malignancy. Mr Clouston was appointed as a Consultant at The Christie in 2018.

Mr Clouston is actively involved in clinical research, with a particular interest in identifying biomarkers for the development of venous thrombosis after colorectal surgery. He serves as the Chief Investigator on the multicentre randomised controlled trial SUNRRISE, which investigates the impact of negative pressure dressings on preventing surgical site infections.

Mr Clouston's dedication to his field and his commitment to advancing surgical techniques and patient care make him a highly respected figure in colorectal and peritoneal surgery.
