Mr Harry Powell is a highly esteemed ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he has served as a Consultant since September 2016. He completed his medical education at the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London, graduating in 2003. His extensive training includes basic surgical training in Bristol and specialist ENT training at renowned London hospitals such as The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear, Great Ormond Street, and The Royal Marsden.
Mr Powell has a broad range of expertise in general ENT surgery for both adults and children. His areas of special interest include ear infections, hearing loss, mastoid and middle ear surgery, and endoscopic ear surgery. He is also proficient in performing cochlear and hearing implants, treating tinnitus, vertigo, and balance problems, as well as addressing conditions like microtia and atresia, sinonasal congestion, sore throats, and voice and swallowing problems.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Powell has contributed significantly to scientific literature, authoring three book chapters. He has been recognised with the Graham Fraser Memorial Fellowship and two Royal College of Surgeons grants for advanced surgical training in ear surgery and auditory implantation. His commitment to advancing ENT care is evident in his ongoing research and publication efforts.
