Mrs Helen Caulfield is a leading Consultant Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon with HCA Healthcare. She works at The Wellington Hospital and Golders Green Outpatients and Diagnostics Centre, and holds an NHS post at the Royal Free London Trust. She is the clinical lead for Paediatric ENT and runs the Tongue Tie service. Her subspecialties include paediatric sleep apnoea, and she has authored books and numerous publications on the topic.
Mrs Caulfield graduated in 1987 with a Medical Degree from University College London Hospital. She began her surgical career with a rotational post at UCLH, followed by training in Neurosurgery at Kings College and General Surgery at Charing Cross Hospital. She specialised in ENT, completing extensive training at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford. Her expertise in Paediatrics was further honed during a two-year Fellowship at the Children's Hospital in Sydney, Australia, under the guidance of renowned Paediatric Laryngologist Bruce Benjamin. She then spent 12 months at Great Ormond Street before being appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital, where she continues to work.
Mrs Caulfield's areas of expertise include sleep apnoea, rhinology surgery, tongue tie division, and paediatrics. She treats conditions such as obstructive sleep apnoea, rhinosinusitis, glue ear, and allergies. Appointed as a Consultant in 2000, she has been dedicated to advancing ENT care for over two decades.
