About Dr Imran Petkar
Dr Imran Petkar is a highly experienced and qualified oncologist who consults at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He also serves as a senior lecturer at King's College London. Dr Petkar specialises in the treatment of head and neck cancers, as well as colorectal cancers.
Dr Petkar undertook a two-year clinical research fellowship with the head and neck unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research between 2015 and 2017. During this fellowship, he investigated advanced radiotherapy techniques, including intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), to reduce treatment-related toxicities and improve patients' quality of life. His research earned him an MD and has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences worldwide.
After completing his training, Dr Petkar became a consultant clinical oncologist at the Royal Marsden Hospital, specialising in the treatment of head and neck and thyroid cancers. He remained there for one year before joining Guy's and St Thomas' in 2019.
