Dr Jake Powrie is a distinguished consultant in diabetes and endocrinology, currently practising at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and London Bridge Hospital. With an initial medical education from the University of Aberdeen, Dr Powrie completed his specialist training and earned a Doctorate at St Thomas' Hospital in London in 1996. He was appointed as a consultant in 1997 and subsequently led the diabetes and endocrine unit for 17 years, making significant advancements in patient care and clinical research.
Dr Powrie's areas of expertise include thyroid disorders, pituitary disorders, adrenal disease, calcium disorders, and endocrine disorders of the testes and ovaries. He runs a specialist thyroid clinic addressing conditions such as overactive and underactive thyroid, thyroid nodules, goitres, and thyroid cancer. His multidisciplinary team at London Bridge Hospital provides comprehensive care for all thyroid-related issues.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr Powrie is an honorary senior lecturer at King's College London and has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles.
