Dr Jonathan Shamash is a consultant oncologist and the lead in acute oncology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He also holds a position at Queen’s Hospital, Romford, and sees patients privately, including at Leaders in Oncology Care. Dr Shamash graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1987 and completed his postgraduate training in London, where he earned an MD in in-vitro modelling of lymphoma.
Dr Shamash specialises in genito-urinary cancers and thoracic malignancies. He has a particular interest in managing complex oncology problems and delivering intensive treatments, such as high-dose Interleukin-2 and high-dose chemotherapy for testicular cancer.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr Shamash chairs the supra-regional germ cell tumour multidisciplinary meeting and is a member of the NCRI testis clinical studies group. He leads various clinical studies focused on the management of testicular and prostate cancer and has an extensive publication record in these areas.
Dr Shamash has been a key figure in oncology since his appointment and continues to contribute significantly to the field through both his clinical practice and research initiatives.
