Professor Luigi Gnudi: Expert in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Medicine
Professor Luigi Gnudi is a distinguished medical specialist in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolic medicine. He is an Honorary Consultant Physician at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Prof Gnudi has been a pivotal figure in the field since his appointment in 1997, when he joined the Unit for Metabolic Medicine as a Senior Lecturer. In 2011, he was promoted to Professor of Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine.
Prof Gnudi obtained his MD with Honours from the University of Parma in 1988. He then completed his residency at the School of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University of Padua, Italy, in 1993. Following this, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, for two years. In 2005, he was honoured as a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology.
Prof Gnudi's areas of expertise include cardiovascular renal complications in diabetes, thyroid disease, chronic vascular conditions, cardio-renal issues, and diabetic complications. He is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating thyroid disorders and managing complex diabetic conditions.
In addition to his roles at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, Prof Gnudi sees patients at the Lister Hospital on an ad hoc basis after 6 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. For appointments, please contact Ms Valerie Hassan.
