Dr Rose is an experienced Consultant Neurologist currently practising at the Whittington Hospital, London. With a career spanning over two decades, Dr Rose has developed a profound expertise in both general neurology and specialised areas such as muscle disease and myasthenia.
Dr Rose completed his neurology training at several prestigious institutions, including Atkinson Morley’s Hospital, the National Hospitals for Neurology, Queen Square, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and the Royal London Hospital. He further honed his skills as a Medical Research Council research fellow, investigating mitochondrial muscle disease, and spent a year in Rochester, New York, for advanced training in muscle disease.
From 1996 to 2019, Dr Rose served as a Consultant Neurologist at King’s College Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich. At Queen Elizabeth Hospital, he managed a variety of neurology cases, including headaches, strokes, dizziness, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy. He also established a successful First Seizure Clinic. At King’s College Hospital, Dr Rose was instrumental in setting up a nationally respected regional muscle disease clinic service, focusing on myasthenia, peripheral nerve diseases, and motor neurone diseases.
In his current role at the Whittington Hospital, Dr Rose continues to run general neurology clinics, providing comprehensive care for conditions such as headaches, blackouts, dizziness, numbness, tingling, weakness, epilepsy, stroke, dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and various muscle diseases.
Dr Rose is a co-editor of the Neuromuscular Diseases Cochrane Review Group and has been an active partner in the TREAT-NMD network. He is also a member of the European Neuromuscular Centre research committee and a founder member of the Muscle Study Group based in the USA. His contributions to the field include numerous published papers, book chapters, and books on neurology and muscle disease. Dr Rose continues his research with a particular interest in clinical trials and quality of life issues for patients with muscle disease.
