About Dr Olympia Tsilochristou
GMC number: 7550755
Dr Olympia Tsilochristou is a highly experienced Consultant Allergist with over 10 years of expertise in the field of Allergy. She is currently based at the UK’s largest Department of Allergy at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust in London.
Dr Tsilochristou qualified in medicine in 2005 and completed her higher specialist training in Allergy in 2014. She holds a PhD focused on allergic rhinitis, particularly local allergic rhinitis, a form that may be underdiagnosed due to negative skin prick and blood tests to respiratory allergens. Following her specialist training, she spent a year as a researcher in molecular Allergology at Charite University in Berlin, Germany. She then joined the research teams at King’s College London, led by Professors Lack, du Toit, and Till, where she investigated the links between food allergy and eczema and participated in clinical trials on peanut oral immunotherapy and preclinical trials on vaccines against peanut, egg, and milk allergy. Her research is published in leading peer-reviewed Allergy journals.
Dr Tsilochristou has co-authored the European Guidelines on Allergen Immunotherapy for Allergic Rhinitis. Her areas of expertise include allergic rhinitis, local allergic rhinitis, and allergen immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis. She also has significant expertise in food allergy and anaphylaxis, enhanced by her NHS experience. At Guy’s Hospital, she is one of the two clinicians running the Food Allergy Clinic, where she reviews teenagers (16 years old and above) and adults with food allergies, including those with eczema, to identify potential food triggers. Additionally, she treats patients with urticaria, hypersensitivity reactions to drugs, and hymenoptera venom (wasp and bee) allergies.
Dr Tsilochristou’s dedication to her field and her extensive research background make her a leading specialist in Allergy, committed to improving patient outcomes through both clinical practice and innovative research.
