Mr Owase Jeelani is a distinguished paediatric neurosurgeon based at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Appointed in 2008, he performs 200-300 paediatric neurosurgical and craniofacial procedures annually. His expertise includes craniofacial reconstructive surgery, craniopagus separation, brain tumour surgery, and managing cerebrospinal fluid and intracranial pressure pathologies.
Mr Jeelani served as Head of Neurosurgery at GOSH from 2012 to 2018, transforming it into one of the largest paediatric neurosurgery services globally. He is also the founder of Gemini Untwined, a charity focused on treating craniopagus twins, and holds an honorary associate professorship at University College London (UCL).
An innovator, Mr Jeelani is a principal investigator at UCL's FaceValue research team, developing surgical devices and machine-learning algorithms. He invented CranioXpand, a cranial distractor system, and contributes to Klay BioTech, which uses AI-driven 3D VR platforms for surgical planning.
Mr Jeelani's interests extend to strategic medical consulting, having founded Interface Health Solutions in 2003. He co-founded the London Craniofacial Unit in 2013 to provide high-standard care for craniofacial and neurosurgical patients worldwide. His academic credentials include degrees from the University of Nottingham, University of Glasgow, and INSEAD.
