Professor Peter Irving is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at London Digestive Health, globally recognised for his expertise in gastroenterology. With over 20 years of experience, he specialises in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as irritable bowel syndrome. He is also a highly skilled endoscopist, proficient in performing gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and capsule endoscopy.

Professor Irving trained at the University of Cambridge and London Hospital Medical College, earning his medical degree with distinction in 1995. During his postgraduate training, he developed a passion for research, particularly focusing on inflammatory bowel disease. This interest led him to Australia, where he conducted pioneering research on the low FODMAP diet at Monash University in Melbourne. Upon returning to the UK, he introduced this dietary approach, revolutionising the management of irritable bowel syndrome.
