Dr Polychronis Pavlidis is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician at King's College Hospital in London. He also sees patients privately at the HCA The Shard and The London Bridge Hospital. Dr Pavlidis earned his medical degree from the University of Thessaly, Larissa, Greece, in 2006 and completed his post-graduate training in London and the South East of England. He holds a PhD in Transplantation Immunology and Mucosal Biology from King’s College London, awarded in 2018.

Dr Pavlidis specialises in treating acute and chronic gastrointestinal symptoms and diseases. His subspecialty interests include the gut-brain-microbiome axis, immune-mediated inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, and gastrointestinal complications following cancer treatments like chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation. He is a JAG accredited endoscopist for upper and lower GI diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and contributes to the national bowel cancer screening programme.

As the Upper GI cancer, two-week-wait pathway Lead at King’s, Dr Pavlidis aims to provide a high-quality, rapid diagnostics service for patients with concerning gastrointestinal symptoms. He also serves as the Clinical Governance Lead, focusing on delivering safe, evidence-based care tailored to individual patient needs. Dr Pavlidis leads a translational research programme funded by major national bodies and charities, aiming to advance stratified medicine approaches in chronic gut inflammation. His research has been published in high-impact journals and presented at international conferences.
