Frequently asked questions
Why do you do what you do?
Ever since my teenage years, I’ve believed in the health benefits of exercise. During my training I developed a particular interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine. After qualifying as a doctor, I saw the emergence of sports and exercise medicine as a medical specialty, and over the following years, it became clear how valuable Exercise prescription is — not only for prevention but also for managing disease. I’m particularly motivated to offer patients non-drug treatment options where appropriate, especially when these are delivered in the right way. Working privately allows me the flexibility to implement these strategies effectively with my patients.
What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?
The most common symptoms I see are pain and loss of function. As a rheumatologist, my role is to identify the cause of the problem — whether it’s injury, inflammation, or something more complex. Many cases are straightforward, but for patients with long-term symptoms, there can be additional layers including psychological factors. I practice holistic medicine and work to understand the full picture. I then discuss this with patient so that we can come to a joint decision regarding the best option for management of the condition.
What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?
I use a range of diagnostic investigations including blood tests, Imaging including MRI and ultrasound, and sometimes nerve conduction studies to identify the underlying issue. Once diagnosed, treatment options can include medication, exercise-based rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and pain management strategies. My goal is to provide each patient with a tailored approach that restores function and reduces discomfort.
What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?
This includes the diagnosis and management of Sports Injuries. It also includes Exercise prescription both for health promotion/ illness prevention and in the management of disease. My interest lies in helping patients restore full function through structured, non-invasive methods.
