Dr Tamer Al-Sayed is a Consultant in Acute Medicine and the acute kidney injury clinical lead at The Christie Hospital. He has been with the hospital since 2009, developing clinical guidelines for the trust. Dr Al-Sayed specialises in internal medicine and nephrology, with a particular focus on the emergency aspects and their interface with critical care medicine. His expertise extends to renal disorders and acute kidney injury, with a strong emphasis on risk recognition, early detection, and intervention in both oncology and non-oncology patient populations.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Al-Sayed is The Royal College Tutor for the University Teaching Hospital of South Manchester and the final year medical student lead. He dedicates time to teaching and training, focusing on the incorporation of basic medical sciences at the bedside. His interests also include electrolyte and acid-base disturbances, particularly in patients receiving systemic anticancer chemotherapy.

Dr Al-Sayed's primary medical qualification is an MB ChB from the University of Manchester, obtained in 2000. He holds several professional memberships, including FRCP and MRCP (Renal Medicine). His clinical roles involve managing acute medicine, internal medicine, and renal disorders, ensuring comprehensive care for his patients.
