Miss Vivian A. Elwell is a highly esteemed Consultant Neurosurgeon specialising in Complex Spinal Surgery. She is currently practising at London Bridge Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK. Miss Elwell has extensive expertise in treating a range of neurological conditions, including back pain, neck pain, slipped or herniated discs, spinal decompression, carpal tunnel syndrome, and sciatica.

Miss Elwell's academic journey began at Columbia College, Columbia University in New York, where she earned a degree in Biological Sciences. She then pursued her medical degree at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College School of Medicine. Her neurosurgical training was completed on the North Thames Neurosurgical London Rotation, followed by specialist training in complex spinal surgery as a Central London Senior Spinal Fellow.

In addition to her clinical work, Miss Elwell is deeply involved in medical education and research. She has authored five medical textbooks, including the second edition of ""Neurosurgery: The Essential Guide to the Oral and Clinical Neurosurgical Exam"" published in 2023. Her research interests include head and spinal injury, spinal degenerative disease, and spinal tumours. She was appointed as an External Examiner for Imperial College School of Medicine in 2023.

Miss Elwell's clinical interests encompass both simple and complex spine surgeries, such as degenerative spinal disease, cervical and lumbar herniated disc protrusion, spinal injuries, and spinal tumours. She is proficient in microsurgery, minimally invasive spinal surgery, and spinal instrumentation. Her expertise also extends to peripheral nerve conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve compression, as well as cranial neurotrauma.

Since her appointment in 2013, Miss Elwell has been dedicated to providing exceptional care to her patients, utilising advanced techniques and a compassionate approach to treatment.
