Dr Zinu Philipose is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with sub-speciality training in liver diseases. He works for both the National Health Service and the private sector. Dr Philipose qualified in Medicine in 1995 and underwent specialist registrar training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the South Thames London Deanery. During his training, he worked at the King's Liver Unit, the largest liver transplant centre in the UK. His training also included a research period at Croydon University Hospital and two years of sub-specialty training in liver diseases. He completed a Senior Clinical Fellowship at St Mark's Hospital, a renowned centre for gastroenterology academics and a tertiary centre for intestinal failure and inflammatory bowel disease.
In 2009, Dr Philipose was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist at Worthing Hospital, where he played a key role in establishing several service developments. He was the only ERCP endoscopist at the hospital and led the set-up of the newly built ERCP endoscopy room. Since 2016, Dr Philipose has been working at Croydon University Hospital, focusing on setting up liver disease services. He successfully established the Viral Hepatitis Network and continues to serve as the Hepatology Lead at Croydon University Hospital. Additionally, he works at St George's Hospital, performing endoscopic ultrasound for disorders of the pancreas, gall bladder, and biliary tract. He covers diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies for the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.
With over 10 years of experience at a consultant level, Dr Philipose has managed all aspects of gastroenterology and has treated a wide variety of gastroenterological and liver disorders. He believes in patient-tailored care, with a focus on improving patient well-being, and is dedicated to sharing his expertise in gastroenterology and liver diseases.
Dr Philipose is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the British Medical Association, and the European Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
