Prof. Clive Archer is a senior Consultant Dermatologist and Honorary Professor (UCLan). Until 2023, he was a Dermatology Consultant at the St John's Institute of Dermatology, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at King's College London (KCL). Previously, he was Consultant Dermatologist and Clinical Lead for Dermatology at the University of Bristol Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol.
Clive specialises in treating a wide range of skin disorders, including general medical and surgical dermatology, hair loss (alopecia), and nail diseases.
He is a highly qualified and very experienced Consultant Dermatologist and Honorary Professor, with an extensive track record of over 200 clinical and research publications, including five books. His research has focused on immuno-pharmacological cell regulatory mechanisms in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, as well as the epidemiology of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. He also has a passionate interest in teaching medical students, postgraduate students and GPs, and has a particular interest in Medical Education.
He performs various dermatological procedures such as cryotherapy, dermoscopy, removal of “age warts” and moles, and skin cancer surgery. He treats all skin diseases including acne, alopecia, eczema, fungal infections, and skin cancers. He has a professional expertise in Medical Law, having completed a Master of Laws degree in 2017. As an Oxford University Blue and London University Purple for Association Football, he is a keen sportsman, enjoying golf, tennis, and real tennis.
