About Dr Noel Pollock

Dr Noel Pollock is a consultant in sport and exercise medicine at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) on Tottenham Court Road, and Chiswick Medical Centre. He also serves as an associate professor at UCL.
Noel graduated with honours in medicine from Queen’s University Belfast and completed an MSc with distinction in sport and exercise medicine at Bath University in 2006. He was among the first cohort of eight specialist SEM trainees in the UK.
Dr Pollock served as the team doctor for the British Track and Field team for 15 years, from 2006 to 2021, attending numerous Olympic, Paralympic, World, and European championships. He was the sports medicine lead doctor in the Athletics Stadium at the London 2012 Olympics. Between 2016 and 2021, Noel led the British Athletics medical team as Chief Medical Officer and later served as UKA Chief Medical Advisor with a governance and oversight remit from 2021 to 2023.
In January 2021, Noel joined the ISEH and Chiswick Medical Centre as a consultant in sport and exercise medicine, providing clinical services for patients with musculoskeletal pain or injury.
He has published work on muscle injury classification and rehabilitation, female athlete health, elite athlete health management, bone stress injury, and Achilles tendinopathy.
A former endurance runner, Noel won national titles and international honours for Northern Ireland in cross country, 5k, and 1500m events. Now, he enjoys cycling regularly and playing football at the weekend.
