Mr Vincent Yip is a consultant hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HPB) and general surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, part of the Barthealth NHS Trust. He specialises in gallbladder, pancreas, and liver surgery, and is fully competent in performing all general surgical procedures to a high standard.
His major interest lies in using minimally invasive approaches for the treatment of complex HPB diseases, particularly employing the Da Vinci Robot to perform intricate HPB procedures. He currently serves as the robotic HPB lead at the Royal London Hospital.
After graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2000, Mr Yip undertook his Doctor of Medicine research degree at the University of Edinburgh. His higher surgical training was completed at the Mersey Deanery from 2006 to 2013, where he was trained by eminent Professor John Neoptolemos in pancreatic surgery and Professor Graeme Poston in liver surgery. To further advance his HPB surgical skills, he completed a post-specialist training fellowship at Hong Kong University and King’s College Hospital, London, focusing on HPB and liver transplantation, particularly cancers in cirrhotic liver.
Mr Yip was a consultant HPB surgeon at the largest pancreatic centre at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital before relocating to London in 2018. During his tenure there, he was the clinical lead for the pancreatic cancer MDT and the pancreatic neuroendocrine service.
He has published over 30 scientific papers and book chapters, and has delivered numerous national and international presentations. He is also the principal investigator in multiple clinical trials for the HPB unit at the Royal London Hospital.
