About Dr Anjali Mahto
Dr Anjali Mahto is a UK-trained consultant dermatologist and founder, owner and Medical Director of Self London, an independent dermatology and laser clinic at 14 Harley Street, London. Her clinical interests include laser dermatology, advanced laser skin resurfacing, acne scarring and skin ageing, alongside acne, pigmentation and rosacea. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and has more than a decade of clinical experience in laser and energy-based treatments.
Her work combines medical dermatology with extensive experience in fractional and fully ablative laser resurfacing. She treats acne scars, sun damage, uneven pigmentation and changes in skin texture, and uses laser and other energy-based technologies to address facial redness and skin laxity. She has undertaken advanced laser training internationally, including in Canada, and lectures nationally and internationally on dermatology, lasers and emerging technologies.
Dr Mahto founded Self London to bring medical dermatology and advanced laser treatment together within a consultant-led clinic. Its range of technologies allows her to select and combine treatments according to the condition, skin type, previous treatment history and recovery time available. Her approach to skin ageing emphasises improving skin quality while preserving individual facial features and expression. Treatment recommendations are grounded in clinical assessment, with clear discussion of likely benefits, risks, limitations and whether intervention is appropriate.
Acne remains an important part of her practice, including persistent adult female acne. Self London provides care from treatment of active acne through to management of residual scarring and long-term maintenance, allowing patients to access medical and procedural treatment within the same clinic.
Dr Mahto qualified in medicine at the University of Wales in 2004 and completed specialist dermatology training in London, including at Imperial College Healthcare and the Royal Free Hospital. In addition to her medical qualifications, she holds a BSc in Pharmacology and a Diploma in Nutritional Science from Stanford University. These inform her assessment of medicines, skincare ingredients and claims about nutrition, supplements and skin health.
She is the author of The Skincare Bible, published by Penguin Life and translated into multiple languages, and a regular contributor to the national media on dermatology and skin health. Across her clinical practice, writing and teaching, she places particular emphasis on evaluating evidence and explaining what treatments can realistically achieve.
